About

Hello and thank you for visiting my site.

My name is Ronan Collins and in 2021 I graduated with first class honors from Technological University Dublin with a Master of Architecture. During my studies I became particularly interested in sustainable design practice and its links to technology. This later became the focus of my work during my dissertation year.

My dissertation, Participatory Structuralism in Architecture in the Modern Era, explored the effectiveness of rule-based design in architecture in the modern
era. And questioning what has changed over the past 50 years that could potentially make rule-based design a viable open again. This question opened up a deep dive into modern design technology that was explored through the vehicle of the 'Architecture and Technology' group within the masters programme.

Prior to studying Architecture, I worked for 5 years as an Interior Architect having completed a BA Interior Architecture in 2011. During this time, I had the chance work on many well known projects around Dublin including the Guinness Storehouse, The Dean Hotel and many well known bars and restaurants. In 2016 I had the opportunity to return to education and made the decision to pursue my goal to become an Architect.

I currently work for McCauley Daye O'Connell Architects where my role is largely design focused. Our work is focused mainly in the residential sector, and I regularly contribute to the 'sustainability taskforce' where we research and find ways to intergrate sustainable design methodologies into our design workflow.

and I plan on beginning my professional diploma in Architectural practice in September 2022.

My other interest include learning and experimenting with parametric design technology, learning and experimenting with Web3 Architecture + Blockchain technology.
